The Relationship between Spiritual Intelligence and Strategies for Dealing with Marital Conflicts and Marital Satisfaction among Married Students in Tehran

The main aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between spiritual intelligence (SI) and the strategies for dealing with marital conflicts and marital satisfaction among married students of Tehran. For this purpose، 300 married students in 5 university of Tehran were chosen by cluster sampling method. The SI questionnaire of Naseri (2008)، marital satisfaction questionnaire of Enrich and Strauss’s resolving conflict strategies questionnaire (1996) were used to measure these variables. The data were analyzed by Pierson correlation and stepwise multiple regression method. The results revealed that there was a significant relationship between SI and marital satisfaction. There was also a significant and negative correlation between Spiritual Intelligence and Neglect، Exclusion and Abuse strategies and there was a positive and significant correlation between SI and Verbal strategy and Forgiveness. Moreover، there was a negative and significant correlation between marital satisfaction and strategies of Neglect، Exclusion، and abuse; and a positive significant one between this variable and Verbal strategy of spouses (most of spouses were men). In addition، the findings of regression analysis demonstrated that one’s own Neglect (in a Negative manner)، Tolerance and Self-awareness، spouse’s Verbal Strategy and one’s strategy of Exclusion (in a Negative manner)، were able to predict marital satisfaction. Findings revealed the relationship between Spiritual Intelligence، strategies for dealing with marital conflicts and marital satisfaction. Thus، the findings prepare the context for experimental research، and then could affect family education and family mental health.
