Structural Model of the Relationship between Emotional Skillfulness, Intimacy, Marital Adjustment and Satisfaction

This study aimed to investigate direct and indirect impacts of emotional skillfulness on marital adjustment and satisfaction with mediatingrole of intimacy. The research design was correlation study using structural equation modeling. The subjects of the study were 200 married men that were selected by multiphasicrandom sampling method. Participants completed measures of Emotional Skillfulness, Intimacy, Marital Adjustment, and Marital Satisfaction. The data were analyzed by structural equation modeling. Results revealedthatthe investigated structural model had a good fitness for data (P<0/001) and the emotional skillfulness has direct and indirect effect on marital adjustment and satisfaction with mediating role of intimacy. Based on findings of this study it can be concluded that the emotional skillfulness plays a major role in marital satisfaction and adjustment status by impacting on intimacy level in marital relationships.
