The Coniferae which are Propolis Sources in Iran I- Pinaceae

The Coniferae are from important Propolis sources of iran. Pinaceae have a particular importance in this Taxon. All species of this family do not have any natural distribution in whole Iran, but hsving evergreen life form, have been caused they have been used for parks and gardens designing in different regions of Iran. This family has resin ducts in several tissues, especially in middle cortex of stem. Therefore, from long times ago, their cortexes have been used for extracting the resin and producing the Trebintin, which have a lot of medicinal and industrial consumptions. The purpose of this presentation, introduction the resin sources from Pinaceae for acquainting beekeepers about these sources. This family has several genera in the world, but the cultivated populations of Pinus, Abies, Picea and Cedrus are seen rather than the other genera of this family. Pinus eldarica, P. longifolia, P. nigra, P. taeda, P. patula and P. brutia are from important resin sources between all species of this genus in Iran. From genus Abies the species A. balsamea and A. pectinata, from genus Picea the species P. excels, P. glauca and P. pungens and finally from genus Cedrus the species C. deodora, C. atlantica, C. libani and C. brevifolia are the most important resin sources of Pinaceae in iran.
