A Sociological Study of Recruitment, Practices and Consequences
Pyramid scheme networks were highly active in Iran during 1380’s. The purpose of this study was to clarify the reasons for the growth and spread of these networks with respect to the practices and experiences of the people actively working it these companies. Based on a qualitative research method, the research data was gathered from interviews with 31 people who have experience in the Quest Company. This study shows that, in addition to numerous serious problems and social damage caused by the activity of the Quest, for many people it was a positive work experience regarding the special work-related training provided in these companies. Finally, based on the findings, recommendations for policy makers are presented.
