Feasibility of School-Based Curriculum Development in the Education System from the Standpoint of Educational Experts

Abstract:
The main purpose of this study is the feasibility of school-based curriculum in the Iranaian educational system from the perspective of elites in the East Azerbaijan province.The research method of the study was descriptive and the statistical population of the survey consisted of five districts of the city of Tabriz officers and high school educational assistants of the school districts (from Azarshahr, Gogan, Osku and Khajeh) and professors of Educational Sciences of Tabriz University, Islamic Azad University, instructors of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University. The sample of the research consisted of 42 officers and 44 teachers that were estimated according to Morgan and Kerjesi table, using stratified random sampling method. The data was gathered through the researchers’ two questionnaires. To determine the validity, content validity was used. Questionnaire reliability was calculated by Cronbach's (alpha). To analyze the data from one sample t test, t test for two independent samples, Friedman’s test was used. The results of one-sample t-test showed that it is possible to the decentralize the curriculum, to raise the quality of teaching and to implement school-based curriculum according to the abilities and capacities of schools through school-based curriculum (P≤0/05). Whereas the results of the t test of the independent samples showed that from professors and experts’ views there is a significant difference between the possibility of decentralization of the system in curriculum planning and the implementation of school curricula according to the capabilities and capacities of schools (P≤0/05), in the quality of education through school-based curriculum, there is no difference between the two groups (P≥0/05).
