Decoloration Of Direct Red 23 Wastewater Using UV/TiO2/β-Cyclodextrin Method

Abstract:
Colors are the most extensively consumed chemicals in different industries which always some dyes enter in nature. So, removals of organic pollutants in ways that are not dangerous to the environment are important. In this search, photo catalytic decoloration of Direct Red 23 (DR23) under UV/TiO2/β-Cyclodextrin process was studied. Effective factors such as pH, the presence of salt, temperature and concentration of the dye was evaluated. Comparing the results of these parameters showed the highest efficiency of decoloration will be achieved in acidic pH and low concentrations of dye. Adding sodium chloride salt from 5 to 20 g/l accelerates decoloration process of DR23 solution and helps to full removal dye. In this process, β-cyclodextrin acts as an absorbent. Also, the results indicate that decoloration of dye under UV/TiO2/β-Cyclodextrin procedure reduce the TDS solution. Moreover, the results of correlation coefficient of experiments indicated that the dye adsorption of the direct dye was correlated reasonably well by Langmuir isotherm.
