Predicting the Performance of Traffic Access Network after the Incidence of Crisis via Space Syntax

Abstract:
From the onset of creation, the incidence o crises in human settlements, especially in cities has assumed special importance due to high population density. During a crisis or an emergency situation compunction transportation network assumes a critical role in returning the normal state to the city. This article is aimed to predict the functioning of a traffic access network in a post-crisis stage. This research is applied and was done in a descriptive - analytical form. Theoretical data were gathered through document and library forms and field data were gathered through surveys and observations, To analyze the data, Tehran's district 6 crossing center line was selected as the statistical population the study and was entered the GIS software and evaluated by using the Ox one Plug-in. Then, parameters for the analysis of the space syntax were extracted. Findings show that it is most likely for the crossings to be used for transportation, procurement and evacuation of the injured in Keshavarz Bld., Valy-e- Asr, Karegar and Karim Khan streets. As well, the Jahan Are street has the highest number of connection to dead-end alleys, suggesting that it lacks the capability to evacuate the residents to its surrounding areas after a crisis happens because of its low integration with the other areas of the district.
