Identifying Curriculum Expert's Viewpoints about Challenges of Innovation in Higher Education Curriculum through Q Method

Abstract:
The growing trend of human societies has led to higher education system experience mass changes​​. To make these changes in line with the needs of growing communities, it is important to have the changes based on innovation and creativity. The study tried to identify the opinion of curriculum specialists according to their experiences on the challenges of innovation in the higher education curriculum. Q-method was used for this purpose. Research data collected from 16 curriculum specialists and were analyzed according to Q Method. The results showed that curriculum specialists had a different attitudes, about the macro and micro challenges of innovation in curriculum development. Experts with macro challenges believed that the challenges facing higher education curriculum innovations come from environment, infrastructure and administrative system of higher education. But experts with micro challenges believed that the main challenges facing higher education curriculum innovations are due to individual-technical factors.
