Investigating the role of the psychological capital in creating the vigor of the Basij members (The case: Cultural units of Islamic Guidance of Ilam Province)

One of the components of positivist organizational behavior is vigor. Vigor is important to the extent that since 2000, the United Nations has calculated it to determine the level of development of countries as one of the main variables. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of psychological capital in creating the vigor of the Basij members. This research is applied in terms of purpose and in terms of data collection method, descriptive - correlation. The statistical population of this study is the total number of employees of the cultural units of Islamic Guidance in Ilam province of 2000 people, among them, 322 people were selected by random sampling based on Krejcie and Morgan tables. Data gathering tool in this research was a researcher-made questionnaire by vigor staff and a standard questionnaire of psychological capital of Luthans et al. The vigor of the questionnaire was confirmed by the opinion of the experts familiar with the subject, and its reliability was confirmed by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient (94.0%). Data were analyzed by regression test. The findings showed that self-efficacy, hope, resiliency and optimism have a significant effect on the vigor of the staff. As a result, with increasing of each dimension of psychological capital, organizational vigor increases. Among them, optimism with a score of 0.339 was the most influential on organizational vigor. Therefore, managers of organizations must create a favorable organizational climate for mental and psychological well-being in order to enhance the vigor and happiness of the employees.
