Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to find out the difference of the performance of Tehran's drivers in accepting safe time distances among vehicles. The research method was descriptive-survey method. The statistical population was all traffic users (male and female) numbering at 300 people. Traffic users (130 females and 170 females) were selected by using Cochran's formula and cluster random sampling was applied for it. The main research tool was a researcher-made questionnaire that has 15 four-choice questions. And Cronbach's alpha of the questionnaire was obtained at (0.82). Data analysis was performed using U Mann-Whitney method due to the nonparametric data distribution. Research findings at 95 levels showed that there is a significant difference between male and female performance in choosing the longitudinal distance from the front-end vehicle in direct motion, but there is no significant difference between male and female performance in choosing the longitudinal distance with the front-end vehicle for overtaking, when entering the highway, and in determining between lateral and transverse vehicles.
