Abstract:

With the expansion of urban and rural population, increase in development of roads and transport networks and the promotion of culture, demand for transport and travel increase day by day .Due to economic, social and cultural differences between people transported daily, it can be expected that the pattern of movement of people (trips) differ from each other. The aim of this study is to investigate the pattern of daily and annual trips within the city and compare these two in order to find solutions for urban area transportation problems. The main hypothesis of this study is as follows: “The pattern of daily civilian trips corresponds to the pattern of annual Iranian travels”. The research done in this study is questionnaire-based survey done on 384 samples (which were stratified cluster samples). Using defined variables, daily trips and travel patterns were obtained. SPSS20 (Chi-Square Test) software was used to analyze research data and statistical methods. These patterns have shown more efficient ways for planning and marketing, which will be useful in tourism development.
