May we save Iran from "Iran" A New Historical Critique of Iran-Based Narratives

Iran is facing many difficulties and various contradictions and crises. In the midst of these problems, Iran suffers severely from the disease of apoliticism and unhistoricalism. Non-political thinking has pervaded Iran, undermining its state of durability day by day. Our past and historical narratives are so tainted with distortions and misunderstandings that they have submerged Iran under the debris of narratives that proclaim glory and grandeur. The present study aims to critique a narrative that political scientists have retold from our past in response to the crisis of backwardness, the decline of sacred thought, ideology and the conflict between tradition and modernity, the model of religious, nationalist, leftist and Iranshahr identity and those who have spoken about Iran of their own. To ask why this is the case, this article raises the hypothesis that Iran should be liberated from "Iran." The cultural and idealistic view of a glorious past, for which no scientific evidence can be found, has made "Iran" the greatest veil and obstacle. This study attempts to recognize the difficulty of sick Iran within these narratives using the new theory of historiography, which is placed in the paradigm of the critical method. Although this narrative may be dark and undesirable, discarding the current difficulties is the only way to get rid of the history of Iran.
