Parents, Adolescents, Familial Values; Preference of Obedience or Independence (Comparative Analysis of Selected Countries at the Middle East)

In contemporary world, especially am-ong the middle east countries which h-ave social disorders and their institut-ions of socialization act contradictori-ly, family can have an important role in prevention of internal and external behavior problems. Parenting style in family can be evaluated as a succe-ssful parenting style if attends to adol-escents’ independence besides monit-oring them. This article discusses preferences of obedience and indepen-dence as two familial values. The main question is that in which conditions the probability of these preferences will increase or decrease? Used data extracted from the fourth wave of World Value Survey. The 15-24 years old adolescents in the Middle East countries were selected as our samples. Findings show that demogra-phic variables have an important role in preference of obedience, while both of demographic and social variables are important in preference of indepe-ndence. In addition, we have shown that there are significant differences between different countries in mutual preference of obedience and independ-ence, while the effective variables of these preferences follow the same mo-del in majority of these countries.
