The effect of a single-circuit weight-training session on lipid profiles and serum lipoprotein changes in students of physical education
The purpose of this study was to investigate weight circuit exercise on lipid profiles and serum lipoprotein responses. Fourteen physical education students (age 21.71 ± 0.18 years, 72.07 ± 5.26 in weight, 174± 3.41cm in height, and 23.44± 1.22 kg/m2) volunteered to participate in the present study. Subjects were asked to perform nonstop weight circuit exercises (10exercise at 60% 1RM, 20s time for each, 3 circuits with 3min rest between circuits). Blood samples were taken prior and immediately after exercise while the subjects were overnight fast (at least 12h). Lipoproteins (HDL, LDL), Lipid profiles (Total Cholesterol, Triglyceride) were measured. Data were analyzed by using paired sample student T-test. Data were given as a Mean ± SE. The differences were accepted at alpha £0.05. In Physical education students group, significant increase was found in HDL concentrations. No significant changes were observed in other variables. The present findings indicate that single weight circuit exercise can be seen as a stimulus for Lipoprotein responses. Further research is needed to clarify mechanisms involving such changes.
