Comparative Evaluation of Journal Selection Criteria in Journal Citation Reports (PJCR) available at the Reginal Information center for Science and Technology (RICeST) and SID

Abstract:
This research is a comparative evaluation of PJCR and SID from the viewpoint of journal selection criteria. At first, for accomplishing this study, some criteria which are needed for evaluating PJCR and SID were extracted from the texts and ISI database, then they were used after testing their validity. Some information is gained from the observation and the other are gathered from a checklist which includes 4 general criteria and 22 sub-criteria. In some cases, necessary information was completed via interview with some experts and managers in their databases. Also, for some criteria, separate questionnaires are designed, and other information is extracted from some journals that are indexed in their databases and other information is gained from the users and article's authors.This study was carried out using different methods, the library method and in some cases the survey method and for analyzing and comparative the results. We also used the evaluation technique. The results show that PJCR is more in concordance with journal selection criteria than the SID.
