A Survey on Youth Social Participation in Ahwaz

The present research was done in 2005 with a sample of 810 (Aged 18-29) in Ahawz. The research aimed at studying the rate and the reasons of social participation. A questionair (with 74/. cronbach reliability) was provided to test the research hypotheses. Then the data were gathered. To analyze the data statistically، T-test، F and pearson correlation coefficient were used. The finding shows that the highest mean (1/50 out of 4) is related to sport activites (among sport/cultural/artistic/scientific/ literary/environmental/public). welfare/political/religious and group activities in the neighborhood)، the lowest mean (1/11 out of 4) is related to political activities. No significant relationships were found between age marital status and social participation rate. However significant relationships were found among the sexes (men more then women)، the participation record the type of occupation /an feeling affiliated with the socio-political system. A significant relationship was also found between the respondents orderliness behavior and the inclination for group work and social participation rate. significant relationship were also found between feeling injustic and the structural and inclinational facilities in the society and also the laws which support social participation with the rate of participation significant relationship were found among educational background feeling valued among the young، social responsibility feeling rate the young، and the young social class and the participation rate. So the findings indicate that: firstly، the social participation among the young people is low while the background for strengthening participation in the society (in case of having a well-thought planning).
