The factors affecting border security with emphasis on the eastern border of Iran and Afghanistan

Political border is a space phenomenon which reflects the territory of a government with the right to prevent, based on certain rules and regulations, the movement of human beings, the transfer of commodities and the dissemination of ideas. Political borders serve various functions, the most important one being the creation of obstacles against the movement of human beings, the transfer of commodities and the dissemination of ideas, being referred to as border security. It prevents any illegal act along the border of a country and legalizes movement of human beings and transfer of commodities and domestic animals through border ports. The security inside the country strongly depends on it as any insecurity in borders may disrupt the economic, cultural, political, social and military systems. The purpose of this article is to study the most important factors that undermine border security. This is a case study of the eastern border of Iran and Afghanistan.
