A Survey on libraries for the blind and visually-impaired in Khorasan Razavi Province: Measuring user satisfaction

The main aim of this research is to investigate the quality of libraries for the blind and visually-impaired in Khorasan Razavi province and regarding user satisfaction. The methodology of this study is based on survey descriptive method. The statistical population includes 8 libraries and 440 active member selected with simple random sampling using Morgan table. 205 questionnaires were distributed between the members. Results showed that only 25 percent of libraries have independent building and were more. Almost 90 percent of libraries building had than 10 years old. There was not recording studio in any libraries. All libraries using tape recorders and computers to answer the clients needs. 75 percent the of librarians were blind. 75% of libraries were run by one librarian. 75 percent of librarians had passed Special blind library management courses. Library members were not satisfied of the equipments softwares and the Study space. Also client were completely satisfied regarding the librarians behavior and their services. Some suggestions including information network among blind libraries، Sharing resources and interlibrary loan، moving towards multimedia publishing and creating the Blind National Library are proposed.
