Studying Iranian Pistachio Export Position: Comparative Advantage and Trading Map Approach

Abstract:
Here in the study, comparative advantage and trading maps are utilized to export Iran’s pistachio export position among other competing rivals in this respect the pistachio export advantages among other agricultural products and non-oil export have been reviewed. To do so, Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) Hillman and trade Hilman and Trade Map (TM) have been used coincidently. Results show that Iran has enjoyed comparative advantage for pistachio during 1995-2006. Averages of RCA & RSCA in this period are 39.11& 0.94 respectively. Under the ranking export comparative average of world main pistachio exporters, Iran is placed at the first fallowed by USA, Hong Kong, Germany and Turkey. Causality test between Iran & USA comparative advantages show than Iran’s one is predominantly affected by USA and there is no evidence for the riverside. During (1995-2007) according to the Trade Map approach, and under non oil exporting market Iran has been the winner of a down turn market while under agricultural export market it has been winner of a developing market.
