Sensitivity Analysis of Network Performance to Simultaneous Supply & Demand Variations In Case of Disaster and Prioritization of Network Links

Transportation network performance is exposed to change in case of disasters. This paper aims to analyze the sensitivity of road network performance to simultaneous scenarios of transportation supply and demand change in case of disasters and prioritization of network links in order to increase network robustness and decrease inter-zonal travel time vulnerability, which is implemented for Iran intercity roadnetwork. This is achieved by defining Zone Robustness Index (ZRI) from a systems approach for each Transportation Analysis Zones (TAZ). The results indicate that the network performance is not sensitive to the increase in travel demand from the studied zone to other zones. In contrast, as a result of increase in travel demand to the studied zone from all other zones, network vulnerability is considerably increased.
