Comparison the Effectiveness of Mindfulness- Based Cognitive Group Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy on reducing guilt sense, suicidal thoughts and Hopelessness in patients with Major Depressive Disorder
The aim of study was to compare the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive group therapy and cognitive behavioral group therapy on reducing severity of guilt sense, suicidal thoughts and hopelessness in major depression patients.
This is an experimental study with pre-test and post-test and follow up with experimental and control groups. The study population consisted of all patients with MDD in Shiraz. Participants were (n=60) patients with MDD. They were selected by targeted sampling and randomly assigned to MBCT (n=20), CBT (n=20), and control group (n=20). Measurement: Zung Williams’s inventory, Beck-II depression inventory, Beck suicide scale, Beck hopelessness scale, Mosher guilt sense scale.
MBCT is more effective for suicidal thoughts and guilt feeling components. MBCT and CBT interventions have the same significance level in the case of hopelessness.
MBCT could be main therapy in reducing severity of hopelessness, guit sense and suicidal thoughts in paitents with MDD.Keywords: comparing effectiveness, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy
