Twenty-seven soybean genotypes were assessed for twelve morphological traits in a randomized complete block design with three replications throughout Rabi season, 2014 at field laboratory of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Significant variations were found among the genotypes for all the traits. Stover yield, seed yield, single pod weight per plant, 100-seed weight, number of branches per plant and number of pods per plant exhibited that they were governed by additive gene action and selection for the improvement of these characters would be fecund. The phenotypic variance was higher than the corresponding genotypic variance for all the characters. All the traits showed moderate to low phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation. The yield had significant positive correlations with number of branches per plant followed by stover yield and number of pod per plant. Number of branches per plant and stover yield had also the highest positive direct effect as well as significant and positively highest correlation with yield. Days to first flowering and number of pod per plant had negative direct effect on seed yield but they are significantly and positively correlated with yield. Considering genetic variability, correlation and path analysis emphasis should be given on the number of branches per plant, stover yield, number of pod per plant and single pod weight per plant during the breeding program to improve the seed yield of soybean.

کلید واژگان: گل محمدی (Rosa damascena Mill، )، عملکرد گل، اسانس، همبستگی، تجزیه به عامل هاIn this study، different characteristics of 38 Rosa damascena accessions were evaluated based on flower yield، yield components and certain other traits. The experiment was conducted during 2006-2008 using a randomized complete block design with three replicates in Dezful، Iran. Correlation analysis showed significant relations between the traits. Flower yield correlated positively with flower number، flower fresh weight، flower dry weight and petal weight. Essential oil content showed a significant positive correlation with flowering duration but a negative correlation with flower number. Also، the correlation between plant canopy diameter and plant height was positively significant. Based on factor analysis results، for the first factor، flower dry matter percentage، flower fresh weight، flower dry weight، petal fresh weight and petal weight/flower weight were considered as the key selection factors and the most important traits. In the second factor، flower yield، plant canopy diameter and oil content had the most variation while، in the third factor، flower number and flowering duration had the highest values. In the fourth and fifth factors، plant height and petal number also showed the highest variation، respectively. Results of stepwise regression analysis showed a significant association between flower yield and flower number، flower weight، flower dry matter percentage، plant canopy diameter، and a good fit was obtained for this association by linear regression model. According to the path analysis، the greatest direct positive effect on flower yield was related to flower number and flower weight. Also، the effect of flower dry matter percentage shown on flower yield was direct and positive. Plant canopy diameter via flower number showed a positive indirect effect on flower yield. It could be concluded from this study that flower yield and flower number are appropriate criteria for selecting superior Rosa damascena cultivars for Khuzistan and similar ecological conditions. Keywords: Rosa damascena Mill., Flower yield, Oil content, Correlation, Path analysis -
In order to elucidate the effect of sowing date on oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) yield and yield components, three varieties including Tower, Rafal and Global were sown from November 7 to December 22, 1998-99 in four dates with 15-day intervals in Dezful region. A split-plot design based on randomized complete blocks with four replications was used in which levels of sowing dates and cultivars formed the main and sub-plots, respectively. Variables including plant height, axillary branches/plant, pods/plant, seeds/pod, single seed weight, biomass, seed oil content and seed yield were measured. Results showed that the sowing date had a highly significant effect on morphological characteristics, yield components, oilseed rape yield and seed oil content. Delay in sowing date caused a reduction in all yield components, especially pods/plant and oilseed yield by 285.23 g/m2 to 135.57 g/m2 on November 7 and December 22, respectively. Variations in sowing dates had different effects on yield components and reduction rates of pods/plant, seeds/pod and single seed weight. The significant effect of variety on all characters, except single seed weight indicated that there were genetic differences among the studied cultivars. Oilseed yield had the significant positive correlations with pods/plant (r = 0.93), single seed weight (r = 0.83) and seeds/pod (r = 0.66). The results of path analysis showed that pods/plant and seeds/pod had the highest positive and negative effects on oilseed yield, respectively. Finally, considering the susceptibility of pods/plant to variations of sowing date and the important role of this character in oilseed yield production, the delay in sowing date in Dezful region reduced the oilseed yield by decreasing pods/plant.Keywords: oilseed rape, sowing date, yield components, correlation and path analysis
