A Contrastive Analysis of Parenting Styles of HousewwivesAnd Mothers Employed by Disciplinary Force

Abstract:
The present research deals with a contrastive analysis of parenting styles of housewives and mothers employed by disciplinary forceby posing a main question as to whether there is a meaningful diffference between the parenting styles of housewives and the mothers employed by disciplinary force. The main aim of the research was to draw a comparison between the parenting styles of these two groups of mothers. The research followed a descriptive method of ground finding. The research community consisted of the housewives of the city of Tehran and the mothers who worked (as policewomen) at the faculty of disciplinary sciences in the year 2009. The random samplesconsisted of 76 mothers (38 housewives and 38 employees) parentiing children between 6-11 years old who were selected to answer the questionnaire of parenting styles by Bamrind (1973). The data were then extracted and analyzed (with an emphasis on statistical method tfor two independent groups) by using SPSS software. Research findiings eventually showed that there was a meaningful difference bettween lenient parenting and authoritative parenting styles of housew.
