The study of effectiveness of semantic cognitive therapy on marital adjustment of paranoid couples in Isfahan

Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of semantic cognitive therapy on marital adjustment of paranoid couples in Isfahan. For this purpose, 18 couples of whom at least one was inpatient paranoia, having paranoid personality disorder or delusion disorder or paranoid schizophrenia who were hospitalized in psychiatry hospital for past 2 years, were randomly selected and distributed in two experimental(9 couples) and control(9 couples) groups.The research procedure was semi-experimental with pre-test and post-test design with control group. The tool which was used in this research was Dyadic Adjustment Spanier(DAS). After pre-test was performed for all subjects, the experimental group attended seven sessions (each session two hours, once a week) in semantic cognitive therapy. Then, a post adjustment test was taken from both groups.The findings were analyzed by covariance analysis.The results showed that the cognitive therapy of semantic has improved the adjustment of all subjects (P=0/000).
