Abstract:
The aim of this study is to explore the impact of the Kalileh-Dimneh-based story telling technique on the improvement of children’s self-concept. The population of the study includes the fourth grade elementary school students in district 2 of Tehran in the academic year 90–91. Considering the objective of the study (self-concept improvement)، 15 students having low self-concept were selected as the experimental group using Piers-Harris self-concept scale as a pre-test. To improve their self-concept، these students were given ten sessions of treatment listening to Kalileh-Dimneh stories. Then، both test and control groups were given the self-concept post-test. The data were analyzed using co-variance analysis. The results showed that Kalileh-Dimneh-based story telling technique improves children’s self-concept.
