Causal Model of Religious Coping strategy in crisis, The Role of Family functioning and Attachment to God

The purpose of the present study was codification of model for Religious Coping strategy in crisis and to examine the mediating role of quality attachment to God in the relation between family functioning and religious coping. In this descriptive-correlational study, Survey data from 810 students from Tehran universities by multi stage cluster sampling, were asked to complete the attachment to God Inventory, Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale-IV (FACES-IV) Olson and et al. and religious coping Pargament and et al., This study Used reliability by Cronbach's alpha coefficient and validity through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, Structural equations modeling method was used to analyze the results and analyze the mediating role based Barone and Kenny and Iacobucci & et al. proposed model. hypothesized model had a good fit with the observed data. Path analysis indicated that the relation between adaptability cohesion family and positive religious coping fully mediated by secure attachment to God, And the relation between family chaotically disengaged and negative and positive religious coping mediated by avoidant attachment to God. The fitted model results showed the effects of rigidly enmeshed and chaotically disengaged family on negative religious coping were mediated by ambivalent attachment to God and family functioning affect religious coping partly through attachment to God. So, the role of family functioning not only be important in preventing and understanding religious coping, but also attachment to God as a mediator, plays an important role in these relationships.
