Predicting Psychological Resiliency based on the Level of Religious Affiliation in Married Women

This study aims to predict psychological resiliency in the married women residing at district 9 of Tehran based on their level of religious affiliation and religious dual orientation. The sample is composed of 150 married women who visited cultural and counseling centers based in district 9 in 2013 and were selected by means of convenience sampling method and filled out Janbozorgi Scale of Religious Affiliation (2009) and Conner and Davidson Scale of Psychological Resiliency (2003). The research data were analyzed by means of Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression. The results suggest that resiliency was in negative correlation to religious dual orientation (-0.37) at the level of P<0.01, and religious unaffiliation (-0.17), and overall affiliation (-0.22) at the level of P<0.05. Moreover, results of the multivariate regression indicate that religious dual orientation and religious affiliation jointly account for 18%, and overall religious affiliation account for 48%, of the variance of psychological resiliency at the significance level of P<0.01. Meanwhile, religious unaffiliation was excluded from the regression equation as it lacks the power to determine prediction of resiliency.
