GIS Utilization in Public Shelters Site Selection (Multipurpose) of Qeshm Island using AHP Method

Site selection as the most important principle of Passive Defense has always been payed attention by defense branch experts in design and construct of structures. If it would be considered at the time of construction of main industries and sensitive structures, damage extent would be decreased in mili- tary or civilian crisises. One of the vital works to reduce human damages, is the selection of the best sites where people could take refuge in occations of enemy attacks. These shelters can be designed in two private and public levels, where private shelters can be placed in an apartment or a building and public shelters should be placed in a city. By studing the similar instances of criteria and sub- criteria in "public shelters site selection" with regarding the place of selected rejion and by consider- ing regional condition generally 4 natural- environmental, physical, active and population criteria and 15 sub-criterion are identified and these criteria and sub-criteria are avaluated and prioritized by use of ranking analyze method. And finally with producing the valuation map and determining each factors in GIS software environment and their overlapping, the final map of suitable palces to con- strct shelters was specified.
