A Survey in the View of Imāmite Scholars Regarding the Order of the Qurʾānic Verses and Chapters

Abstract:
This paper aims to review the problem of the order or the Qurʾānic verses and chapters according to the Imāmite scholars. It shows that there is not a consensus among them on this matter: while some believe that the order of the Qurʾānic verses has been determined by the Prophet, many others hold the view that this order belongs to the Companions. As for the order of the Qurʾānic chapters, it seems that most Imāmite scholars believe that it is not an order suggested by the Prophet
