Comparing the Effectiveness of Group Counseling Based on Acceptance and Commitment and Solution-Focused Group Counseling on Function of the Families in the Verge of Divorce

The goal of this study was to compare the effectiveness of group therapy based on Acceptance and Commitment and Solution-focused group therapy on the function of the families in the verge of divorce. In this quasi-experimental study, using two experimental groups and one control group.The population consisted of all couples with marital conflict and adjustment problems that referred to Isfahan counseling centers. The sample included 30couples(60 person) referred to counseling centers in Isfahan who were selected by random sampling method.For 10 couples in the first group, therapy based on acceptance and commitment was performed and for secand10 couples group, solution focused couple therapy were used. 10 couples in control group received no training.To evaluate the function of the families McMaster Family Questionnaire 60 questions was used. Data were analyzed by covariance analysis. results showed that both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the solution-focused couple therapy on the families verge of divorce were significantly effective. Also efficacy of solution-focused couple therapy on increasing function of families on the verge of divorce was better than acceptance and commitment therapy.Regarding the findings,we can use two approaches to counseling based on Acceptance and Commitment and counseling with solution focused therapy as a low-cost and efficient approaches with wide applicability in improving family function and repairing couple relationships with communication problem.
