Study of resistance of applied mineral resin coating for stabilization of nanoparticles TiO2 to remove organic pollutants from waste water of paint and coating industries

Abstract:
In this research, resistance of mineral resin coating has been reviewed in order to stabilize nanoparticles of TiO2 to remove organic pollutants. For this purpose, mineral base resin was covered on glass walls of reactor first, and then resin surface preparation was done to be coated (stabilization) with nanoparticles of TiO2 by an appropriate solvent. In this study, different solvents were used for preparing the resin. In addition, residence time of solvents for surface preparation of polymer (resin) was investigated. Applying solvent is the most effective, quickest, and cost effective methods to prepare resin surfaces because there is no need to temperature operation and special equipment. In this process, the optimum contact time between solvent and mineral base resin was evaluated 20 min for surface preparation stage. Considering the results of the surface preparation process and different tests, such as water resistance, DSC of the applied coatings, it can be presumed that the prepared surface of resin shows suitable resistance against the different factors. In this research, the use of resin as the glue to maintain and stabilize the nanoparticles TiO2 would prevent the catalyst loss and reduce the cast of waste water treatment greatly.
