The role of the Soviet Union in Shaping and the Fall of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan

The years 1324 and 1325 can be called crisis years in Iran. The occupation of Iran by the Allies, weakness of the central government and the refusal of the Soviet Union to evacuate Iran were some of the most important causes of the crisis in these years. The presence of Soviet forces in the north of Iran and their exploitation of the dissatisfaction of the people of these regions from central government policies, especially in the region of Azerbaijan and Kurdistan, played a significant role in fostering the crisis. The Soviet government which prepared a plan for infiltration in the north regions of Iran before the occupation of Iran and tried to implement programs during the occupation of Iran, at first tried to stabilize its influence in these areas ad to achieve its expansionist goals in Iran by acquiring the north oil. But bythe opposition of the government and the Iranian parliament to this request, the Soviet Union tried to achieve its goals by forming the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan and Kurdistan and supporting their desire for self-determination In this research, we are going to investigate the role of the Soviet Union in shaping and then the fall of the Democratic party of Azerbaijan.
