A Review of Women's Characterization in the Sacred Defence Cinema Case Study: "Days of Life" Film
Women have played important role in different movements and campaigns including Sacred Defence. Cinema is an instrumental medium to demonstrate their real personality and presence in war. Therefore, the present paper elaborates on the question of "how women are characterized in Sacred Defence Cinema". The data are gathered using a documentary method including books, articles and movies. A qualitative analysis method is used to describe and analyze women's characterization in "Days of Life" movie. The results obtained for the above question show that women have a weak presence in Sacred Defence Cinema and are characterized as mother, sister, wife or a medic behind the front, which has become a cliché role. However, the analysis of the aforementioned movie according to Linda Seger's view shows that the women's role in the movie is not a cliché role. Finally, it should be said that Sacred Defence Cinema does not deal with all dimensions of women's presence.
