The Effectiveness of Emotional Therapy on Depression in Divorced Women in Shahrekord city
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy on depression in divorced women in Shahrekord. The statistical population of the study consisted of all divorced women referring to welfare centers in Shahrekord in 1396. The research method was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design and follow-up with control group. For this purpose, 28 divorced women referred to welfare centers were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received emotion-based therapy in 8 sessions of one and a half hours for two months, while the control group did not receive this intervention. Then the post-test and after one month follow up were performed on both groups. The instruments used were Beck Depression Inventory (1963). Data analysis was done by SPSS software version 20 using descriptive statistics and covariance analysis. Results showed that emotion-based therapy training was effective on depression in divorced women and the effect of this method remained stable after one month (p <0.05). By recognizing emotional experiences, people find a positive attitude toward their negative emotions, which reduces the amount of pressure these emotions have.
