Abstract:

Designing sociocultural platform is one of the new issues in designingurban public spaces. This approach is aimed at the general improvement ofurban public life by providing appropriate grounds and conditions forpeople’s presence in public spaces and the advent of social, cultural,recreational, educational, tourism activities in a framework of values,needs, cultures, and general policies of the target population. In the presentstudy which is conducted for the first time on designing urban public spaceswith the approach of contemporary sociocultural platform, it is tried topresent principles and criteria for designing those spaces and also to designa sociocultural platform for Arch of Alishah in Tabriz as a case study.Findings of the present study indicate that, due to the lack of planning,management, and designing the area of Arch of Alishah in Tabriz, thisplace has been completely left and neglected. This issue has resulted inunfavorable and catastrophic consequences for the city and its citizens.Finally, macro and micro strategic and operational.
