Abstract:

Islam has given great importance to reason and thinking and has emphasized on the use of reason in several Qur’anic verses and Hadiths. In this regard, several narrations have been narrated about the position of reason, in the sources of the two main parties in Islam, Sunni and Shia, but since the Salafists, led by Ibn Taymiyyah, consider that epistemology is limited to narration and avoid from reason, considering the narrations about the virtue of the intellect to be fabricated. Ibn Taymiyyah claims that there is no correct narration regarding the virtue of reason. While, according to some Sunni narrators, these narrations are original and the document of some of them are defensible; In addition, the weakness of this type of narration does not mean that they must be left out, but there are ways to strengthen them. Furthermore, acting on according to the content of this kind of Hadith does not conflict with the Holy Quran and tradition of the Holy prophet. In the following research, by descriptive and analytical methods, Ibn Taymiyyah's views on the narrations of reason will be discussed.
