Shi ism and Defense of its Boundaries In Fatima al-Zahra's Sermons

Author(s):
Abstract:
Shi’ism is a familiar name in monotheistic culture and the holy Qur’an is the great evidence for this claim. In the Qur’an, because of continuing the monotheistic way of Noah, Abraham is called a Shi‘a. The Prophet and ‘Ali were also Shi‘as.Shi’ism is not a distinct and separated way from Islam, but rather it is a prolongation of the Mohammedan line and the way of monotheism. It is apparent that in the way of God and in the monotheistic stream, to elect the caliph and executor (wasy) of the Prophet, like electing the Prophet himself, is only in hands of God and by His commandment. It is the belief that distinguishes Shi’ism from others.Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon her) in her auspicious sermon defends this insight and opposes and stands against all movements and currents that appeared on that time or could appear in the future, because she could see the results of those movements and currents as evil consequences that would have no effect other than bloodshed and adversity; at the same time, if the divine chosen current which was manifested in ‘Ali’s leadership, continued after the Prophet (peace be upon him), certainly it would lead into happiness of all human communities, and Islam would have a brilliant future that in the light of it people could possess all divine material and spiritual gifts and the doors of heavenly and earthly bounties would be opened to them, but alas…!
