Evolution of Approached in Sīra Scholarship in Shīʿī Studies

Understanding different approaches in Sīra research enables us to categorize different perspectives and compare them, allowing for a logical encounter with the proposed questions and challenges. The present study aims at investigaitng the historical evolution of Sīra research using the descriptive-analytical approach and based on Shīʿī studies. The results indicate that three main approaches dominate Sīra research: First, the Fiqhī approach, which considers Sīra as a source for deducing decrees; Second, the Ḥadīth approach, which considers Sīra as a role model and example for life; and third, the Historical appraoch which considers Sīra as a report of historical events.
