Methods of Making Doubts Credible in Media and Counter-Strategies
Doctrinal doubts hinder the consolidation of religious beliefs in individuals and afflict them with epistemic confusion. While the main function of media is to increase knowledge, countries that see their interests in the dissolution of Islam attempt to create and disseminate doubts through media, especially in Islamic societies. The present paper aims to counter media-generated doubts by identifying the methods used by doubt-casting media to make their created doubts credible. This research is developmental-applied and, as needed, employs documentary-analytical methods. Articles and books in the field of doubt studies, media, and doubt-casting media programs constitute the research community, while other sources related to the research objectives have been used as supplementary resources. The findings and results of the research indicate that doubt-casting media use trust-building, displays of honesty, demonstrations of courage, indirect induction of doubt, feigned respect, and attention to audience needs to make their incorrect information believable to their audience. The strategies to counter this type of doubt-casting include using cultural engineering in domestic media and increasing media literacy among the general public.
