Abstract:

The Lāy-Zangān village is a mountainous and cold region located in the southern Zagros mountain range in Fars Province, situated 54 km east of Dārāb County. The present study is dedicated to the classification of verbs in the Lāy-Zangān dialect of Dārāb based on their structures. The data collection method in this research includes both fieldwork and library research, while the research method follows a content analysis approach with a descriptive-analytical perspective. Generally, the verbs in this dialect can be divided into two categories: simple and non-simple verbs. Non-simple verbs can further be categorized into prefixed verbs, two-part compound verbs, prefixed compound verbs, multi-part compound verbs, and multi-part compound verbs with prepositions. The verbal prefixes in this dialect include var, bar, foru, dar, and vâ:. The prefix vâ: is highly active and, in most cases, modifies the meaning of a simple verb, generating multiple meanings from a single base verb. Given the large number of simple and prefixed verbs in this dialect, as well as the diverse meanings of prefixed verbs, it can be inferred that the speakers of this village tend to prefer using independent and noncompound verbs.
