Plea Bargaining in Iran Police

According to police and the majority of people, clearance of crime is when the accused of supposed crime is arrested by police and confessed to the occurred crime. To increase the clearance rate, influence public attention, and advertise their efficiency, police is more engaged in arresting suspected people; i.e. arresting suspects and taking confession from them has been placed at the top of the missions of police. In addition to investigation and interview, classical methods of taking confession by police, plea bargaining is considered another way, much newer, in this regard. In this method, police bargain with the accused and suggest him/her to accept some charge, to be neglected by the other. In Iran, purposefully or not, in case of criminal issues, some similar methods are used by police officers.However, in this article, after determining the concept of plea bargaining, its requirements, implementation methods, the effective elements to accept this attitude, and finally, its challenges with the national law are being discussed.
