Data goes through different operations since its birth and this will be continued until its death (if any). In the literature, the overall description of the operations on data is known as the “data life cycle”. In the digital era, the value creation from data has become an increasingly important issue and the data-related operation has become more complicated. One of the most important data-related entities in each country is the executive governing body of the country or the government. In this research, the proposed conceptual framework for the life cycle of the government data in Iran is presented. This framework is a standard-based flexible framework that allows the sharing and reuse of information across the governmental and nongovernmental entities. Also, it can be used to describe data and categorize it based on open, confidential, and etc. classification. In the first part, the related literature to the life cycle of data has been studied and various elements used in each model are introduced. Then in the second part, a proposed conceptual framework for the life cycle of government data in Iran is presented.
