    Masumeh Asadbeigi Page 7
The studies conducted in the realm of social interactions and communications, have revealed the fact that body language signs have proved to bring the most effective human relations in to being.Speech being partially significant in human relations whereas other means of communication, those of body language signs, play an effective role in meaning transition and interlocutor’s intended meaning. The fact that the major part of our communications (nearly 80%) is done through body language and only 20% is done through sheer speech, will attach more importance to this issue (Mehrabian, 1972). As differences of body language usage abounds in male and female subjects with different age groups, so are the type and frequency of use of these signs. A standardized test for body language competence is administered in this research. 40 questions are selected out of 81 questions which are in true / falsedesign. Finally, significant differences were observed in terms of gender and age, whereas, occupation and education are not significantly influential in use of these signs.

Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as one of the dominant branches of linguistics concerns discovering the hidden aspects of the language structure through clarifying the underlying levels of text and speech.CDA also indicates how to represent different types of truth through linguistic elements (micro-structures) and discursive structures (macrostructures). This study is an attempt to define and explain the ways of representing social actors in Persian news discourse to make it clear if the analysis of the critical discourse can reflect ideology and power of the underlying structure of this type of discourse and how much the structures can cause clarity or mystification of the message of news. To fulfill the objectives, benefiting from the socio-semantic features in Van Leeuween's model (1996), the news on channels 1 and 3 of the Islamic Republic of Iran TV was analyzed. The results show that in Persian news, socio-semantic features such as Exclusion, Inclusion, Passivation,Personalization,Indetermination,Association, Differentiation, Nomination and Generalization are utilized to a great extent. Moreover, the results show Persian news on channel 1 benefit more from the Van Leeuween's socio-semantic model in contrast with channel 2.

  • A Comparative Analysis of Lexical Cohesion in Children and adult's stories
    Iran Mehrabi Page 77
Speakers of a language, intuitively, are able to distinguish text [any passage, spoken or written, of whatever length] as a unified whole from a disconnected sequence of sentences. Texture is whatdistinguishes a text from non- text, and texture is provided by the cohesive relations. Cohesion occurs where the interpretation of some elements in the discourse is dependent on that of another.halliday and hassan [1976] divided cohesive relations to three general types: grammatical, lexical and conjunctions. They believe that any change in context leads to changing cohesive relations. The aim of this study is comparing children and adult's stories to determine their similarities and ifferences regarding the utilization of different types of lexical cohesive devices[reiteration and collocation].In other words, we expect that a writer, regarding his/her addressee [children or adult] uses different kinds of cohesive relations. Main conclusions attained from this comparison reveal that [i]the division made by halliday and hassan[1976] regarding lexical cohesion in English is comparable with lexical cohesion in Persian.[ii]The story/novel writers either for children or adults utilize different means of lexical cohesion to create text cohesion.

The author hereby tries to manifest the necessity of the comparative analysis of "She´re now" in Farsi with poetry in Ancient Persia.
