    Objective(s)
Today, cancer is one of the health concerns in modern societies. The use of nanoparticles in medical science has created new possibilities for diagnosis, imaging of tumors, and treatment of cancer in humans.
    Materials and Methods
In this study, chitosan nanoparticles modified with quinic acid were used to diagnose breast cancer using a single-photon emission computed tomography imaging technique. For this purpose, quinic acid was activated by EDC/NHS and then binding was performed by adding chitosan nanoparticles.
    Results
TEM, DLS, FTIR, and LC/MASS analyzes were used to investigate this conjugation. MTT toxicity test showed no toxicity on the HEK-293 cell lines and therapeutic properties for the MCF-7 cell line. The response surface method depends on the central composite design that was applied. For the highest labeling efficiency, using 3 factors: the amount of chitosan-quinic acid, pH, and SnCl2 as a reducing agent, and the efficiency of labeling was evaluated by thin-layer chromatography (TLC).
    Conclusion
Finally, the study of biodistribution using SPECT imaging in cancer mice and its comparison with blocking tests showed that this compound has a good ability to diagnose breast cancer.

    Background
18-memberd ring of tri-aza dibenzo sulfide (TTD) and dibenzo sulfoxide (TSD) macrocyclic diamides showed the oxidative radical forming ability and further strengthened the documentation of their cytotoxicity effects through lipids, proteins and DNA oxidation damages. With this in mind, our group synthesized some novel macrocyclic base on TTD diamides and a podand.
    Methods
Novel aza macrocyclic diamides were synthesized based on dibenzosulfide using of diester method as N-pivot Lariat ethers from the michael reaction and nucleophilic attack to epoxide ring as a key strategy of corresponding Diamide with acrylonitrile, epoxy- styrene and 1, 2-epoxypropane at reflux in dichloromethane in good overall yields. In addition, a podand was synthesized based on dibenzosulfoxide with epichlorohydrin at reflux in methanol.
    Results
The structures of these compounds were confirmed using IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
    Conclusion
The presence of additional oxygen atom considerably increases its hydrogen binding capacity and this property can improve biological and complexation characteristics of primary 18-Membered-ring tri-aza Macrocyclic diamide (TTD).

    Introduction
Inflammation is recognized in up to 50% of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, being a common feature of advanced renal disease and crucial mediator of vascularcalcification which may be relevant in CKD. This study was aimed at evaluating the role ofGrowth arrest-specific 6 (Plasma GAS-6) and mineral metabolism abnormalities inhemodialysis (HD) patients.
    Methods
We enrolled a total of 92 adults including 46 (28 males and 18 females) clinicallystable HD patients and 46 (23 males and 23 females) patients with normal kidney as control group. Plasma GAS-6, Interleukin 6 (IL-6), and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP)concentration and biochemical alteration were quantified; as biochemical factors, GAS-6,IL-6, and hsCRP levels were determined by standard methods.
    Results
Levels of GAS-6 were significantly increased in HD patients compared with normalcontrols (P
    Conclusion
Elevated serum P and GAS-6 might play a role in the development ofinflammation in CKD patients. Although our study shows that GAS-6 is directly associated with IL-6 and phosphor with hsCRP, their direct role in vascular calcification and type of theirrelationships need further studies in the future.
