The Use of Self-Assembly Structures of Spirulina ISC6 for Drug Delivery

S-layer is the surface cell wall layers in cyanobacteria. S-layers having 5–10 nm thickness and identical, regularly arranged pores with diameters of 2–8 nm. The self-assembly process can occur in the air-water interface. Drug targeting is the selective delivery of drugs to a particular tissues and cells. Drug targeting, increased the efficiency of medical treatment and reduce the required dose and decrease the side effects of a drug. The mechanisms of attachment of drug to drug targeting materials varied according to the physicochemical properties of these materials. In this study Slayer of Spirulina ISC6 cyanobacteria was used to delivery antibloodcancer drug L-Asparaginase to cancer cell lines.In this study the use of nano particles of Spirulina ISC6 S-layer for delivery of L- Asparaginase to cancer cell lines was investigated. Spirulina ISC6 was cultured in zarrouk media. S-layer was extracted from outer membrane of cyanobacteria by standard method. Quantification and qualification of extracted s layer was done and sterilized by filtration. Different concentration of S-layer and L-Asparaginase, was tested on cancer cells. The cells mortality was compare with untreated cells, only S-layer and only L-Asparaginase treated cells. Results was shown that cancer cells treated with S-layer and L-Asparaginase better than other compound decreased cancer cells.
