Optimal Conditions for Synthesis of Tin Oxide Nanoparticles by Taguchi Design Method
Author(s):
Abstract:
SnO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by thermal decomposition. Taguchi analysis, a statistical experimental design method was also used to find the effects of three parameters, molar concentration ratio [nitrate solution/SnCl4 solution], temperature and time of calcination, on the size of SnO2 particles. The nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-visible spectroscopy techniques. Taguchi analysis showed that the molar concentration ratio of [nitrate solution]/ [SnCl4 solution] was the most effective parameter on the particle size. The optimal conditions were determined by using Taguchi robust design method and nanosized SnO2 particles (2 nm) were obtained.
