Political Sociability and the Islamic Republic of Iran

Political sociability is a process based on which “political trends, attitudes, criteria, knowledge, information and values” of a society are taught to the individuals, and followers of the ruling political system. In Iran, the process of sociability is developed and institutionalized in people’s minds through the remarks of the leader and authorities on a special political topic in a specific period of time. In the last three decades “the mass media, organizations, governmental institutions, religious schools and governmental experts” have been very influential in preserving values and political norms. Regarding modern and classical attitudes in political sociability, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s system has focused on the evolution of cognitive political order of individuals, enhancing the political awareness of people, institutionalizing the political elements of government in citizens’ minds, learning and acquiring political roles, criteria, trends, values and desires of students, and the political reproduction of conduct. Families, the mass media, peers and educational centers have played an important role in the political sociability through direct and indirect teachings. Political culture in the Islamic system indicates awareness of society about the government, and political culture has been affecting the formation and performance of the political institutions of society. The Islamic Republic of Iran has utilized numerous methods, such as advertisement, speeches, books and programs, to develop a code of political conduct that is rooted in the ideas of Imams and true Islam. Also, political upbringing has been promoted both directly and indirectly in the last three decades.
