A Survey on Relationship between Social Capital and Urban Development, Case Study of Ghaemshahr

Abstract:
Essential to development advance in any society, having social support that social capital is one of those and include components: "social trust", "social cohesion", "social participation", "social consciousness", and "religiosity". The aim of this research is on relationship between social capital and urban development variable. Statistical population were 281 residents of Ghaemshahr at the age of 16 and above which were used as classified and random sampling method. Research is carried out by a survey method through a questionnaire which based on Likert scale for gathering the information. The data interpreted through SPSS soft ware and Pearson correlation. The results indicated that there is a significant relationship between social capital components, including: Social trust, Social cohesion, Social participation, Social consciousness, Religiosity and urban development. The results of step-by-step regression show that two variables (social trust and social cohesion) are studied at equation and current situation significantly was upper the average.
