The Role of External Factors in the Developments of the Former Soviet Republics: A Case Study of America's Intervention in the Developments of Georgia

Author(s):
Abstract:
Evaluation of the developments in the countries which previously belonged to the Soviet Union is of great significance for the countries targeted by the arrowhead of the U.S. hostile policies, especially for those adjacent to Central Asia and Caucasus since these developments can directly impact the political and security equations of the region. On the other hand, the experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the riots of the tenth elections as well as the similar unrests in some other countries proved that, from the perspective of political sociology, the events which took place in these countries are applicable to other areas as well. In fact, the United States utilizes the afore-mentioned developments as a model in order to change the political systems of the countries, such as Iran, which are not in line with its policies. Assuming that the changes which took place in the former Soviet republics were mainly triggered off by the plans of the Western countries, especially the United States, while the internal forces consented to them, this paper seeks to explore the signs and evidence of America's intervention and present an overall pattern of their administrative and operational process so that such developments can be predicted in other countries. This case study focuses on the developments in Georgia Republic.
