Motivation and challenges of women in police work

This study reveals the extent to which women can perform police tasks successfully and how they are accepted by their male colleagues and the community. Despite the importance of female police officers in maintaining the security of community, little efforts carried out to show the causes and motivations of women in joining the profession and their problems. The results showed that women are attracted to police professional career for serving women and children, and for gaining a standard living. Meanwhile, police chiefs do not consider any difference between women and men in terms of organizational profits but in assigning the mission these differences have been noted. In addition, respondents (both women and men) believed that police women investigate crimes related to women, investigate the crime against women and children, and fight against cyber crime more than others.
